Outreach and Missions

At Southbrook it is our desire to reach as many people as we can with the message of the love of Jesus Christ. A few ways we do this are through missions trips and outreach projects. That's what Jesus did for us. He took on the status of a slave. He humbled Himself incredibly. He lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death (Phil. 2:5-8).  Outreach and Missions is the outworking of Jesus' example in our own lives. We must humble ourselves and live a selfless, obedient life so that we can show the love of Jesus to those who need it most.

Charlotte Rescue Mission | Every third Sunday, a team from Southbrook prepares dinner for the men in 'Rebound', CRM's recovery program. Our team ministers to the men through service, prayer, and encouragement. We meet in the Weddington parking lot to carpool at 2 pm and return at 6 pm.

Age Requirement – 18 and older; middle and high school allowed if serving with a parent

Pantry Packs Team | Help feed hungry children in Monroe through this unique ministry opportunity. A large percentage of the students at Benton Heights Elementary School are in the free or reduced lunch program. For the most part, the only food they get is what they eat at school. We stuff packs with food and send them home on Friday with the students over the weekend, so they and their siblings can eat. They bring the empty pack back on Monday and we refill them. Time commitment is flexible and all ages are welcome.

Donate – we accepts various donations of non-perishable food items

Sponsor – sponsor a backpack for $20 a month, or $200 a year

Serve – join us each week as we sort food and stuff packs

Café | One of the ways we make new guests feel welcome is by offering complimentary coffee. At our Weddington campus, we also have an assortment of refreshments available for purchase, with all proceeds going to our Missions and Outreach ministry. If you are more of a behind-the-scenes person, you’ll find a good serve fit here.

Time Commitment - 2- 4 hours per weekend, at least 1x or more per month

Skills needed - friendly (additional training provided)

Age requirement - 12 and older (students must serve with their family)

The Closet | Volunteers for this ministry have a passion for outreach.  Our team meets weekly in Monroe to prepare donated clothing for Free Shopping Days.  Many volunteer opportunities are also available the weekend of our Free Shopping Days, including set up the day before the event, assisting shoppers, and break down the day of the event.  Time commitment is flexible and all ages are welcome. All volunteers opportunities are posted on our website at www.theclosetministry.com.
