The Cove at Southbrook Church is all about kids having fun, interacting, and learning about the love of God. Our ministry is designed to engage your child in exciting, age-appropriate activities and Bible teaching. We believe your child’s experience at The Cove will be inviting and positive and will set you at ease to enjoy the adult worship service.

We have children's classes at all of our regular services for kids nursery age through 5th grade.

Our Values

  1. We value kids. We believe in looking at everything we do through a child’s eyes, to create a ministry that reaches, teaches and loves that child.
  2. We value creative Bible teaching. We don’t want kids to just know Bible stories; we want them to know how the truths of those Bible stories can impact their lives. We want to communicate the life-changing message of the Bible in a creative, age-appropriate, relevant way. Being relevant for today’s kids means using drama, music and multi-media that reaches and engages them.
  3. We value building relationships with our kids. We believe that building relationships with kids may be the most effective teaching tool of all. Kids are greatly influenced by those that believe in them, encourage them and guide them. We partner with volunteers who have a heart for kids and want to make a difference in their lives.
  4. We value keeping kids safe. We believe that safety is vital as families entrust us with their kids each week. Therefore, every child’s name tag is matched to a parent-identification number, every volunteer is screened with a background check, and our building is monitored by security personnel.
  5. We value FUN! When kids keep coming back for the fun, we then have the opportunity to impact them spiritually. We want The Cove to be a fun place so that our kids look forward to coming back each week!

New to The Cove?

We are excited to meet your family, check your child into our database system, and guide you to your child’s room. At our Check-In desk we will ask for the following information: family members' names, children’s names and birthdates, family address, phone number and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child.

You and your child will be given matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion of your identification tag which has a security number that is matched to your tag. If for some reason your child were to need you during the service, your number will be displayed on the screen in the main auditorium. During checkout, you will return to your child’s room and show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.

Please be sure to ask any of our amazing volunteers or staff if you have questions about our values, policies or procedures. Thanks for checking out The Cove!

What to expect when you return to The Cove

As you enter The Cove, your first stop should be to visit our Check-In desk where a friendly volunteer will check your child in for the service you are attending. Our Check-In opens 20 minutes prior to the start of each service. Our Check-In volunteers will need the last four digits of your phone number to locate your family in our database system.

You will receive a set of tags with an identification number for you and for your child. Your child will wear the tag with his or her name. Please hold on to your portion of the tag until checkout at the end of the service. You will need it to check your child out of our ministry.

On your way home, be sure to ask your child: “Did you have fun?” and “What did you learn today?”
